Societies

Historical and genealogica societies can provide much needed assistance to researchers in Ireland. Often societies publish quarterly newsletters or journals. Some transcribe and published indexes of source materials as well as collections of family histories.

Two sources list names and addresses of societies in Ireland:

John Grenham's, "Research Services, Societies, and Repositories", listed in his book, Tracing Your Irish Ancestry: The Complete Guide details addresses and societies from all parts of the world.

James Ryan's, Irish Records, also contains resource information on joining a historical or genealogical society.
