Project Announcements
The Shamrock Tombstone Transcription Project, a new special project of the IrelandGenWeb Project, is collecting user submitted data for tombstones not located in Ireland but which indicate a place of origin in Ireland. Initially begun as part of the Shamrock Ireland email list, in May of 2001, the project moved off list to a permanent location on a web server. The IrelandGenWeb Project is proud to be associated with this data collection effort and encourages anyone with tombstone data to donate it so that researchers world-wide will have access.
RootsWeb,Inc.com and Ancestry.com merged their query message board systems to create a new message board network. The former GenConnect at RootsWeb message system was completely integrated into this new system. Many WorldGenWeb Project country coordinators used the GenConnect system to track queries for their countries. All board administrators should have received an email letting them know about the change in the system and how they should proceed to re-adopt their country's message board (should they choose to do so).
The new message board system is located here:

Project coordinators need to update their page links to reflect the new board locations as soon as possible.
